What the SnowSure Integration Does
SnowSure is a specialist ski data API that provides comprehensive resort information for hundreds of ski resorts across Europe and North America. The Storylayer SnowSure connector gives you access to six API endpoints: resort search, current conditions, snow forecasts, SnowSure scores (a proprietary 0–100 rating of current skiing quality), resort metadata, and webcam feeds. This data flows into Storylayer as a structured data source that the AI uses to generate content. When conditions change — fresh snowfall, a score spike, or a forecast shift — Storylayer detects it and can automatically trigger content creation.
How to Connect SnowSure
SnowSure is a built-in connector — you don't need your own API key. In your Storylayer dashboard, go to your project's Connectors page and click "Add Data Source." Select SnowSure from the list and search for the resorts you want to track. You can add multiple resorts to a single connector or create separate connectors for different resort groups. Once configured, Storylayer polls SnowSure for updated data on the schedule you set — from every 15 minutes to once daily. The connector is included in all Storylayer plans at no additional cost.
Available Data Fields
The SnowSure connector exposes a rich set of data points that the AI can weave into content. Current conditions include upper and lower snow depths (in cm), fresh snowfall in the last 24 and 72 hours, number of open lifts and runs, grooming status, and avalanche risk level. The SnowSure Score is a single 0–100 number that encapsulates overall skiing quality — making it perfect for comparative graphics. Forecast data covers expected snowfall, temperature, wind speed, and sunshine hours for the next 7 days. Resort metadata includes altitude, total piste kilometres, and resort imagery for use in templates.
Example Use Cases
A ski chalet company tracks ten Alpine resorts and publishes a daily "Top 3 Resorts" carousel on Instagram, ranked by SnowSure score with condition details on each slide. A ski holiday operator triggers a "Powder Alert" post on X and Instagram whenever any tracked resort receives more than 30cm of fresh snow in 24 hours. A ski magazine generates weekly long-form condition reports on Ghost, covering snow depths and forecasts across 20 resorts with auto-generated comparison tables. A tourism board publishes daily Story graphics showing current conditions and webcam snapshots for their region's resorts.
Storylayer Features That Work with SnowSure
SnowSure data works across all Storylayer publishing channels and features. The AI caption engine understands ski terminology and generates authentic-sounding condition reports. Creatomate templates can dynamically insert snow depth numbers, SnowSure scores, and forecast icons into branded graphics. Automation rules let you set thresholds — "post when SnowSure score exceeds 80" or "post when 24h snowfall exceeds 20cm" — for fully hands-free content. Data combining on Pro and Agency plans lets you cross-reference SnowSure conditions with Open-Meteo weekend forecasts to create richer, multi-signal stories.
