What the Instagram Integration Does
The Storylayer Instagram integration connects your Instagram Business or Creator account through the official Meta Graph API. Once connected, Storylayer can publish single-image feed posts, multi-image carousels, Stories, and Reels directly to your profile without you ever opening the Instagram app. Every post is generated from your real-time data sources — weather forecasts, ski conditions, property listings, product inventory, or any structured data you connect. The AI selects the right moment to post based on rules you define, writes a caption that matches your brand voice, and pairs it with a Creatomate-rendered graphic built from your own templates and brand assets.
How to Connect Instagram
Head to your Storylayer dashboard and navigate to Settings → Social Accounts. Click "Connect Instagram" and you'll be redirected to Meta's OAuth flow where you grant Storylayer permission to publish on your behalf. You'll need an Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page — personal accounts aren't supported by Meta's publishing API. The connection takes under a minute and you can revoke access at any time from both Storylayer and your Instagram settings. Once connected, Instagram appears as a publishing channel in the Create wizard and in your automation rules.
Available Publishing Formats
Storylayer supports all major Instagram content formats. Single-image feed posts are rendered from Creatomate templates at 1080×1080 or 1080×1350 resolution. Carousels let you publish up to 10 slides in a single post — perfect for multi-resort snow reports or weekly property round-ups. Stories are published in 1080×1920 vertical format with support for text overlays, data badges, and branded frames. Reels support is available for video templates rendered through Creatomate, allowing you to publish short-form video content generated entirely from data.
Example Use Cases
A ski tour operator connects SnowSure data and publishes daily powder alerts as Instagram carousels — each slide showing a different resort's conditions. A real estate agency links their Google Sheets listings and auto-posts new properties as Stories with price overlays and location tags. A travel brand combines Open-Meteo weekend forecasts with curated destination photos to publish "Weekend Escape" feed posts every Thursday. A surf school publishes daily wave and wind condition graphics sourced from marine weather data, reaching their audience before the morning paddle-out.
Storylayer Features That Work with Instagram
Instagram is fully supported across every Storylayer feature. The visual Create wizard lets you preview exactly how your post will look in-feed before publishing. AI captions are tuned for Instagram's audience — concise, emoji-aware, and hashtag-optimised. The content queue lets you review, edit, and approve generated posts before they go live, or you can enable auto-posting for hands-free operation. Scheduling lets you target specific days and times for peak engagement. Analytics track impressions, reach, and engagement after publishing so you can measure what resonates.
